Course Introduction

The course includes clinical placements, which allow you to develop clinical skills and to relate theory and practice within a vocational context. Following successful completion of the course, students are eligible to apply for registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). Registration with the HCPC is a requirement in order to practice as an ODP in the UK.

Level 4: Basic Science; Basic Anatomy and Physiology; Patient Care Concepts of Operating Department Practice; Infection Control; Principles of Surgery; Principles of Anaesthetics; Level 5: Skills for Critical Appraisal; Exploring Leadership; Enhancing Practice in Anaesthetics; Enhancing Practice in Surgery; Enhancing Practice in Recovery; Option module.
