Course Introduction

This research'intensive programme will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to undertake a novel research project in microbiology. In addition to your own laboratory work, you will attend group laboratory meetings and seminars. If you are interested in further research, we offer an MPhil/PhD in Biology.

Course Modules

The research component of this degree occupies about 2 3rds of the programme. The remaining 3rd comprises postgraduate taught modules that will provide the necessary theoretical and practical background for you to pursue your chosen research topic. Compulsory modules: Research in microbiology; research project and dissertation MRes microbiology.

Course Additional Entry

Minimum second'Class Honours degree in a cognate science discipline. If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub'tests.
