Course Introduction

The course involves analysis of key issues in the field of non'governmental organisations (NGO) and development management, including issues in globalisation and development and programme/project design and management; dedicated research methods module to develop advanced analytical skills and prepare for the independent research dissertation; the course adopts a multi'disciplinary approach and examines global and local dimensions of NGO and development management; it encourages independent critical approaches to contemporary development issues, focuses on a practical field approach to development management, and adopts a client'centred approach to development.

Course Modules

Modules include: Development management in the international context; programme and project design; research methods; dissertation; plus options from: introduction to forced migration; managing policy; institutional development for voluntary organisations.

Course Additional Entry

A 2nd Class Honours degree in a cognate area of study. Under special circumstances applicants without a relevant 1st degree but with substantial professional experience may be considered, usually on the basis of an interview. All applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
