St Mary's University, Twickenham

Course Introduction

St Mary's offers a new type of degree that brings together the best of university and drama school training. Drama and Theatre Arts is for students who want to work in mainstream Theatre, TV and Film. The foundation of the programme is actor'training, but as the course progresses it allows students, if they so wish, to pursue interests in directing and playwriting. The practical and production work here is text'based, but there are also modules in improvisation and devising. The programme offers a public showcase event and prepares you to be an individual artist or form your own theatre company. 75% of the programme is practical (workshop'based) classes and production. There is one lecture/ seminar class a week of the core Drama programme shared with students from the other Drama pathways. Teaching contact time is, on average, 30 hours per week.
