Course Introduction

Central areas in which research supervision is provided are as follows: the Italian chivalric Carolingian epic; Renaissance literature and the history of the Italian book in the Renaissance; the development and consequences of mass cultural forms (cinema and popular press) in the modern period; artistic and cultural relations between Britain and Italy in the 19th'century; modern literature, especially modern poetry, the 20th'century detective novel and Italian theatre; relations between music and literature in the mid 20th century; language and discourse in diverse contexts of spoken and written use, including narrative, theatre, and national and international institutional settings.
