This course aims to produce graduates with a balanced mix of technical and artistic skills that are highly valued within the CGI, visual effects, computer animation, games and multimedia industries. Taught by staff with specialisms in computing, TV, science, design and graphics, it balances theory with practical work, including the use of 2D and 3D CGI graphics software.
Core and optional modules include: Year 1: visual thinking or; mathematics and statistics; fundamental programming concepts; html programming and internet tools; introductory physics; visual structures; instrumentation principles for media technology; computer'generated imagery and sound 1; object'oriented programming with java. Year 2: computer'generated imagery 2; software development with java, advanced programming concepts or; visual basic; graphics software embedded language programming; introduction to multimedia design; computer animation; film and television studies; project design and investigation skills. Year 3: advanced CGI; technical direction in computer graphics; digital media editing and compositing; project; computer graphics and image processing; dissertation; option modules.
