Research areas include: figure and index in photography and painting; alienation and theatricality in Diderot and Brecht; photography and microphysical indeterminacy; phenomenology of landscape; memory and time'based art practice.

Applicants require an upper 2nd Class UK Bachelor's degree or its overseas equivalent, and are normally expected to have studied to Master's level in either Fine Art or in Art History / Theoretical Studies.
