Year 1 examples: Core French language; introduction to French literature (compulsory); French narrative texts (an introduction); subjects and selves (an introduction to French thought); text and performance (an introduction to French theatre and film). Year 2 examples: Comedy in French literature before 1700; the French novel since 1700; the idea of France; modernity and the city; modern French history; Year 3 examples: Troubling desires; recent French thought; contemporary women's writing in French; images of Algeria; citizenship and exclusion in modern France; topics in French film II shadows of enlightenment.
