Course Introduction

This course investigates the production of recorded popular music from both a theoretical and a practical standpoint; the course deconstructs and analyses the process of record production to provide students with the relevant skills and understanding to develop a career in the contemporary, fast'changing music industry or as a springboard to further postgraduate study at PhD level.

Course Modules

Modules include: developing your career; advanced recording techniques; the development of audio technology; manipulating sounds; performance in the studio; combining sounds; research methods; dissertation or project.

Course Additional Entry

A 2.1 Honours degree or higher in music technology or a related subject; or substantial industry or prior experience in the field; advanced musical knowledge; a portfolio of degree level / professional work and a written statement; interview; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or above, at a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components, TOEFL internet'based test 90 or above, Pearson PTE Academic 58 or above, or an equivalent secure English language test.
