Course Introduction

You divide your time equally between the two subjects. Comparative literature makes connections between literary texts of different times, places and traditions and between literature and philosophy, film, music, and the visual arts. Linguistics complements the study of literature by allowing you to gain an understanding of how language and communication work. Advanced options in the second and final years enable you to concentrate on the areas of literature and linguistics that interest you the most while the joint research project enables you to bring the two subjects together.
