Course Introduction

This course provides systematic knowledge and skills in the analysis and design of transport systems which are grounded in advanced engineering science, statistical modelling and planning theory and practice.

Course Modules

Modules include: Analysis and design of transport systems; asset management and project appraisal; highway and railway engineering and operations; safety, survey techniques and quantitative methods; transport society and planning; advanced structural design; finite elements and stress analysis; groundwater engineering; soil'structure engineering; project (masters); urban design (the heart of planning); property development and regeneration; sustainable places.

Course Additional Entry

The course is designed to suit graduate engineers or scientists, mathematicians or statisticians, geographers, planners and economists. Graduate psychologists and graduates in other disciplines may be considered if they are able to demonstrate they have studied subjects containing a good level of numeracy. A Bachelor degree equivalent to UK second Class honours lower division in a relevant subject, or substantial work experience is expected to gain a place on the course.
