News photography, reportage, social issues: these are just a few of the areas you'll focus on as part of this exciting and innovative course. The emphasis is on work'related learning so you'll be covering real, live news events, photographing newsworthy people, and producing LCC's newspaper in collaboration with journalism students, and through external work placements. This course is taught at London College of Communication, at Elephant and Castle.
Year 1: Practical photojournalism; introduction to documentary photography; media law, ethics and codes of conduct; introduction to study in higher education; contextual studies 1 (histories and theories of photojournalism 1). Year 2: Documentary storytelling; editorial project (newspaper and online); collaborative project; contextual studies 2 (histories and theories of photojournalism 2). Year 3: Major photojournalism/documentary project; contemporary professional practice; contextual studies 3 (dissertation).
