Course Introduction

An intensive, advanced conservatoire acting programme. Maintaining Central's tradition of innovation in actor training, we offer 2 specialist courses. Successful applicants are offered a place on either the Classical or Contemporary course. Classical is a creatively, physically and intellectually demanding course designed primarily for students with previous experience and/or training. The course aims to hone the individual technical craft of the actor, and to release their collaborative and imaginative creativity within an ensemble. Contemporary is a creatively, physically and intellectually demanding course designed primarily for students with previous experience and/or training. The course aims to hone the individual technical craft of the actor, and to release their collaborative and imaginative creativity within an ensemble.

Course Modules

Acting 1 (40 credits); performing research (20 credits); public production (20 credits); acting 2 (20 credits); practices 2 (public production) (20 credits); sustained independent project (60 credits).

Course Additional Entry

Applicants normally have conservatoire training, or professional acting experience, or have a degree in performance, and drama studies; other disciplines may be considered with sufficient experience of theatre; applicants whose 1st language is not English, require IELTS 7.0; offers subject to audition, and interview; short practical workshop, and piece of written work, may also be required.
