Course Introduction

This four year course with a placement year gives you valuable practical skills and a competitive edge when looking for your first graduate job. As well as our Biomedical Sciences BSc course we also offer specialist pathways programmes, giving you the chance to explore and connect your interests. Course Modules

Level 1 Core: The human body: principles of anatomy and physiology; biochemistry: structure and function; biology of the cell; practical skills in biomedical; research skills; critical thinking 1. Level 2 Core: Molecular and cellular biology; genetic engineering and immunobiology; principles of human disease; career skills; critical thinking 2. Options: Analytical biochemistry; metabolic regulation; genetics and development; medical microbiology. Level 3: Work placement. Level 4 Core: Final year project Options: (pick one) Microbial pathogenesis; forensic technologies; genomic technologies; medical biochemistry. (plus 3 from) Biology and treatment of cancer; cellular pathologies; endocrime disorders; genomic medicine; medical immunology;molecular pharmacology and toxicology.
