Birkbeck, University of London

Course Introduction

This programme is designed for graduates who wish to develop a thorough understanding of key issues in international business and management, with a particular focus on how firms might internationalise and develop effective international business strategies to address business threats and opportunities in the international market. The programme combines specialist taught courses with general training in management, business organisation, strategy and research methods. You also complete a dissertation on a topic covered by the programme, supervised by a member of staff undertaking research within that area. Students completing the programme develop knowledge, skills and the competency to be able to analyse critical issues in international business with both qualitative and quantitative methods, and to design and implement international business strategy and policy development. It is particularly relevant if you are, or would like to be, a manager with responsibility for international business and policy affairs in a private or public sector organisation. If you are interested in further research, we offer an MPhil/PhD in Management. Progress to a PhD will normally be dependent on gaining at least a merit grade in the Master's programme. It will also be dependent on a member of the teaching staff agreeing to act as principal supervisor for your PhD research.
