Course Introduction

Biochemistry is the 'chemistry of life'. It involves the study of living organisms, from the simplest to the most complex, and seeks to explain how they work at molecular level. This course provides a broad understanding of biochemistry, with the opportunity to specialise as your interests develop.

Course Modules

Level 1: Modules include: human physiology 1; chemistry for life sciences; modern laboratory techniques or essential laboratory; techniques in life science; cells and tissues; genetics and molecular biology; structure and function of biological modules; mathematics and information and communication technology; human physiology 2 or introduction to environmental physiology. Level 2: Modules include: protein biochemistry; cell biology; bioanalysis; bioenergetics and intermediary metabolism; flow of genetic information; plus 3 optional modules. Level 3: Modules include: bioinformatics; molecular genetics; project; biochemical analysis; plus 3 optional modules.
