Course Introduction

This flexible programme provides a challenging and thought'provoking exploration of the world in which we live. You will examine the interaction between human and physical processes and practices. There is plenty of opportunity to put theory into practice through fieldwork at home and overseas.

Course Modules

Year 1: Geographies of people, place and culture; understanding the environment; economy, environment and development; Earth environments; applications of geo'analysis; investigating the Earth and environment. Year 2: Concepts, issues and ethics in geography; geographical information systems; techniques of geographical analysis; Project design and management; culture, place and society; physical landscapes; planning and the environment; political economy of globalisation. Year 3: Geography at work; dissertation; project; economic and social geography of Australia and New Zealand; crime patterns and the environment; water resources management; achieving a sustainable future; managing environmental change; development and change in Africa; sustainable cities.
