Course Introduction

The course provides a complete grounding in the theory, themes, professional issues and practical skills central to stage one health psychology training.

Course Modules

Modules include: Biopsychosocial issues in health psychology; individual differences in the psychology of health and illness; chronic disorder and health psychology interventions; advanced research methods; practice and professional issues in health psychology; supervised research project.

Course Additional Entry

Applicants must hold, or be eligible for, the Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society; plus usually an upper 2nd or 1st Class award; those who do not hold this level of classification require evidence of practical experience in an area relevant to health psychology, an additional qualification which is relevant to health psychology, or evidence of attainments during their undergraduate degree which indicate particular strengths in health psychology; applicants are interviewed; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 or above, TOEFL internet'based test 100 or above; Pearson PTE Academic at 58 or above, or an equivalent secure English language test.
