Course Modules

French Year 1: French language 1; French language in context; introduction to France and the francophone world; French beginner (a1); French elementary (a2). Year 2: French language 2 or French for continuing beginners and French practice 2 (continuing beginners). Optional modules: aspects of translating and interpreting (French); image, text and context; European cinema; computer'assisted translation tools. Year 3: advanced French language. Optional modules: francophone cultural identities French; professional translation (French); specialised translation (French); consecutive interpreting; national cinemas (France); work'based learning; research project. Spanish Year 1: Spanish language 1; Spanish language in context; introduction to Spain and the Spanish speaking world; Spanish beginner (a1); Spanish elementary (a2). Year 2: Spanish language 2 or Spanish for continuing beginners and Spanish practice 2 (continuing beginners). Optional modules: aspects of translating and interpreting (Spanish); Hispanic culture and society; European cinema; Latin American revolutions. Year 3: advanced Spanish language. Optional modules: gender, sexuality and ethnicity in Hispanic art and media; professional translation (Spanish); public sector interpreting (Spanish); media translation; consecutive interpreting; work'based learning; research project; Cuba (society, culture and struggle since 1898).
