Course Introduction

The course concerns bilingual communication in an international environment and is for specialists, such as diplomats, military and police personnel, NGO and international aid workers, journalists and academics. Successful international liaison depends on effective communication through the skillful use, understanding and manipulation of language. It also demands an awareness of the languages, culture and specific needs of all involved in the situation.

Course Additional Entry

You will normally be a graduate or have equivalent professional status. You must offer two languages, including English, you must be habitual users or fluent in one language, and be capable of listening, speaking and reading in the other language to at least Council of Europe Level B2/C1. Where English is not your first language, proof of competence will be required. We would expect an IELTS certificate with grade 6.5 or equivalent qualification. You may be invited to an interview. You must also demonstrate reasons for wishing to study the course and an understanding of the demands of the course.
