Course Introduction

The course is designed for those working in the agri'food sector (pigs and poultry). This includes animal production through to retail outlets, as well as animal scientists, veterinary surgeons and other veterinary para'professionals supporting intensive livestock health and production.

Course Modules

Modules include: Animal disease 1; developing and monitoring of livestock production systems; principles of livestock husbandry systems; options: animal disease 2; animal welfare; epidemiology and animal health economics; economics for livestock development and policy; management of infectious viral disease outbreaks in animal populations; reproduction and fertility; research, design, management and grant application writing; veterinary public health.

Course Additional Entry

A 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent in a scientific subject, veterinary science, animal science, agriculture, biological sciences or medicine, or in another scientific discipline which the university regards as including suitable training. Degree or a technical or professional qualifications and work experience considered appropriate and relevant by the university considered for entry to PgDip. Students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 or equivalent (with a minimum 6.5 in each component).
