Course Introduction

This programme will enable students to engage in, and experiment with, practical game design. Students will also explore theories and concepts with which to analyse the formal characteristics of games, the types of pleasure and values they offer and their place in contemporary culture.

Course Modules

Modules include: game design 1; critical approaches; game design 2; socio'cultural contexts; final project.

Course Additional Entry

A UK 1st or 2nd class (2.1) Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification in arts; humanities; social sciences; multimedia; computing or electrical engineering. Other subjects and qualifications with relevant games industry experience will be assessed on an individual basis. Applicants may be invited to an interview. Entry criteria are subject to change. English language requirements: IELTS: 7 (min 6 in all areas); Pearson: 64 (51 in all subscores); BrunELT: 70 per cent (min 60 per cent in all areas).
