Students focus on either 3'7 year olds (foundation stage or key stage 1) or 7'11 year olds (key stage 1 or key stage 2), and undertake their school experience within a specified age range. Students are supported professionally by a system of school and personal tutoring.
2 modules are offered at either Higher or Master's level. These are general professional studies: a classroom'based research project with a pedagogic focus, and curriculum studies, which has an integrated focus in which there are 5 options. School experience is offered at Higher level.

Degree or higher in English, mathematics, science, art, design and technology, geography, history, music, physical education, child development, educational studies or early childhood education from a UK university; those who have studied these subjects as part of degree or have an A'level in 1 of these subjects in addition to a degree also considered; grade C GCSE in English language, science and mathematics or recognised equivalents; an enhanced disclosure certificate from the Government's Criminal Records Bureau (CRB); an occupational health questionnaire.
