Course Introduction

This course prepares qualified adult nurses to pursue a rewarding and challenging career in midwifery. Nurses will be able to specialise and enter a career in midwifery, where they can support women and their families at crucial stage in their lives.

Course Modules

Modules include: Critical appraisal of the evidence base for practice; advances in midwifery practice; managing risk in midwifery; midwifery knowledge: theory, context and practice; qualitative research; research design and statistics; professional skills workshop.

Course Additional Entry

A minimum 1 year's post'qualifying midwifery experience; relevant 1st degree; suitable candidates without 1st degree may be considered, but are required to successfully complete a research module at level 3 prior to commencing Master's level study.
