Course Introduction

This is a generalist MSc and will be relevant to those who wish to pursue a career in accounting and those who require a thorough knowledge of accounting as budget holders. We seek students from different areas in business/management, accounting and finance, or those with a quantitative background and take a genuinely interdisciplinary approach to the subject, which offers you an innovative way of learning about topics that cannot be pigeonholed into one particular area. Because our students come from such a variety of backgrounds and range in age and experience, you will find our class discussions a stimulating arena in which to explore new ideas and topics. We have particular research strengths in: International business and strategy; the management of innovation and entrepreneurship; human resource management; corporate governance; sport management and marketing; financial management and accounting. We offer students of all ages and backgrounds a chance to study either part'time or full'time in our department and to gain an internationally recognised University of London qualification.

Full'time modules: Applied financial management; contemporary issues in financial reporting for complex entities; financial modelling management accounting and decision making 1; management accounting and decision making 2; multinational financial management; principles of financial reporting; valuation analysis and risk management; part'time modules ' year 1: Applied financial management; financial modelling management; accounting and decision making 1; management accounting and decision making 2; multinational financial management; valuation analysis and risk management; part'time modules ' year 2: Applied financial management; contemporary issues in financial reporting for complex entities; principles of financial reporting; MSc accounting and financial management dissertation; dissertation.

Course Additional Entry

Normally at least a 2nd Class Honours degree in any subject area from a UK university or a non'UK equivalent; other qualifications will be considered. A professional or other qualification obtained by written examinations approved by the College. Relevant experience, supporting statements and references may be taken into consideration, especially in the case of non'standard applications. If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English: IELTS Academic Test score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub'tests.
