University of East London

Course Introduction

The programme is aimed at architecture graduates wishing to specialise, or at those within the 'built environment' ' such as planners, psychologists, quantity surveyors or designers. This is a degree in which you can take advantage of the wide range of study areas, or concentrate your energies on a specific area. For instance, if you work as a planner, you might find the urban design modules most profitable; if you are a conservation officer, the range of options for architecture and heritage could fit the bill; if you are an architect, the architecture and practice specialisms could add most to your own practice.

Course Modules

You will study two taught theory modules, worth 30 credits each, and a practice module worth 60 before proceeding to your concluding thesis. There are 6 specialist practical options from which to choose: Computational architecture; urban design; sustainable architecture; architecture for international development; architecture and practice; architecture and heritage. The supporting theory options are: Urban design; sustainable architecture; computational architecture; architecture and heritage; landscape theory; critical writing; critical studies.
