Course Introduction

The programme provides a grounding in current geographical theory, methods and issues by drawing on the expertise of the human geography staff from across the research themes of the school.

Course Modules

Compulsory module: Geographical thought and practice; option modules include: advanced readings in geography; art, performance and the city; empire, race and immigration; cultural geography in practice; cities, space and power; researching development in practice: mumbai unbound; migration and mobilities; global working lives; re'theorising development futures; the theory and history of community organising; democracy, rights and citizenship.

Course Additional Entry

An upper 2nd Class Honours degree or higher in a humanities or social science subject from a UK university (or an equivalent international qualification) together with 2 supportive references is required; candidates are expected to have good English language abilities and to meet the standard of the IELTS, or equivalent, at a level of 7.0. It is not necessary to have a degree in geography and we welcome applicants from different backgrounds in the arts, humanities and social sciences.
