Course Introduction

The course covers how computing is increasingly embedded in everything we use from transport, financial and telecommunications systems to everyday personal items such as toothbrushes and running shoes. The pervasive nature of computing coupled with the ever increasing demand for improved products and services drives the discovery of innovative solutions through the use of information systems. This has led to a critical dependence emerging between computing and practically all industries.

Course Modules

Database systems; Java programming; software engineering; systems analysis; options include: network programming; business information systems; computational genomics; entrepreneurship in information technology; graphical user interface design; high performance computing; interaction design; software risk assessment.

Course Additional Entry

Upper 2nd Class Honours degree, with little or no computer science content.
