### Course Introduction

Interested in developing knowledge of a range of mathematical skills together with an understanding of the principles of economics? This course concentrates on the methods and modelling techniques of mathematics, but also provides the theoretical background for these ideas. If you have mathematical abilities and are interested in the theory of the subject and in the application of mathematical methods to economics and finance, then this is the degree for you. Training in the mathematical sciences is highly valued by employers.

### Course Modules

Students take the following modules, plus 1 mathematics option module from those available on the BSc mathematics in year 3 and a mixture of mathematics and accounting option modules in year 4. Year 1: Algebra 1; calculus 1; introduction to economics; year 2: Calculus 2; discrete mathematics; proof and structure in mathematics; year 3: Macroeconomics and microeconomics; 1 mathematics option module from those available on the BSc Mathematics; year 4: Mathematics and economics optional modules.
