Course Introduction

The way we communicate with the rest of the world is constantly changing, so working in Telecommunication Engineering you can help shape the way the world communicates. This is a technical telecommunications and computer networks engineering course. You'll benefit from an established academic team that maintains a strong research output. As a BEng programme, this course encourages you to acquire a deeper understanding of the essential facts, concepts, theories and principles of electrical engineering and its underpinning science and mathematics. Course Modules

Year 1: engineering mathematics and modelling; design and practice; engineering principles; introduction to electrical and electronic principles. Year 2: advanced engineering mathematics and modelling; introduction to communication systems and networks; analogue, digital and mixed signal circuit design; fundamentals of communication theory and transmission channels; managing the engineering process; engineering software C++. Year 3: optional placement. Year 4: innovation and enterprise; network technologies and design; analogue, digital and wireless communications; project; DSP for communication engineering; optical and microwave communications and EMC.
