Course Introduction

The course aims to prepare students for a PhD or a career in an academic or industrial research environment, for example within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries related to veterinary medicine, but also for other biological and biomedicine'related careers. The course provides a comprehensive understanding of animal biological processes and body systems and an appreciation of disease processes and pathogen biology.

Course Modules

Modules include: Essential biomedical sciences; systems and investigative biology; problem definition and investigation; plus optional modules.

Course Additional Entry

A 1st or 2nd class Honours degree in biology or zoology. Preference is given to applicants with training in microbiology, parasitology and pathology. Relevant work experience (e.g. in a zoo or wildlife rehabilitation centre/hospital) is an advantage. students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 or equivalent (with a minimum 6.5 in each component).
