Year 1: Introduction to social anthropology; ethnography and theory; reading other cultures: the anthropological interpretation of text and film; 1 outside option. Year 2: The anthropology of kinship, sex and gender; political and legal anthropology; anthropology of economic institutions and their social transformations; options to the value of 1 unit from topics in social anthropology. Year 3: Advanced theory of social anthropology; anthropology of religion; options to the value of 2 units from topics in social anthropology (these may include an extended essay and/or 1 outside option).
