International events management is a fast'growing sector of the global marketing industry and managers need skills in handling people, projects and budgets, often across international boundaries. This programme will equip you with the essential business and practical skills for a successful career in the international events industry. You will learn to produce creative solutions under pressure, work on live projects and engage with specialists in planning and producing a wide range of events.
Semester 1: Financial and management accounting; introduction to the events planning industry; professional skills development; project management and IT skills; 1 language module or 1 elective module. Semester 2: Events Operations Project Planning; Economics of Tourism and Events; Introduction to Comparative Law; 1 language module or 1 elective module 2 elective module Elective modules (semesters 1 and 2): Introduction to global political economy; introduction to international organisational behaviour; introduction to writing for the media; media technology for events. Please note: some students may be required to complete a module in English language study. Semester 3: International destination management; international events marketing; managing human resources; risk management for events; 1 language module or 1 elective module. Elective modules (semester 3): culture and tourism; food and society; integrated marketing communication for events. Semester 4: Study period abroad. Semester 5: Study period abroad or placement learning project. During your study period abroad you will take specialist elective modules at your host institution. Semester 6: Business strategy in events; strategic communication in international events management. 1 language module or 1 elective module. 2nd elective module international events management dissertation (continues in semester 7). Semester 7: Contemporary issues in international events management; 1 language module or 1 elective module; 2nd elective module; international events management dissertation. Elective modules (semesters 6 and 7): cross'cultural perspectives in business; design in international events management; enterprise planning; luxury brand management and international events; modern gastronomy; services marketing.
