Course Introduction

The department is committed to conceptually and intellectually rigorous research which can influence the professional practice of educators; we welcome all enquiries about possible research topics and offer supervision in theoretical and empirical research; research centres on 3 areas: promoting equity and social justice; analysing curriculum policy and practice; and language and culture in education; we are particularly keen to hear from those who would like to work in fields such as: art in education; bilingualism in education; comprehensive education; culture, identity and learning; curriculum studies; early childhood; gender and class identities; history of education; language and literature; popular culture and education; race/sexualities; science education; social and cultural identities; spatiality and education; drama in education; information communication technology in education; and visual cultures and education.

Course Additional Entry

1st degree of at least upper 2nd Class standard/Master's degree in an appropriate subject; graduates in an unrelated field may be considered subject to qualifying examination.
