Course Introduction

This course offers advanced critical and textual study of the plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries, focusing on both early modern and contemporary contexts for their composition and reception. Optional modules offer in'depth study of Jacobean theatre and culture, Shakespeare on screen and stage, and the social and literary cultures of early modern England.

Modules include: Jacobean theatre and culture; Shakespeare on film; global Shakespeare and training in methodologies and editing.

Course Additional Entry

A minimum 2.1 Honours degree in English; drama; or an equivalent subject, or an overseas equivalent; students are required to submit a sample of written work on a relevant topic.
