Course Introduction

Year 1: mind, body and brain (1); social and developmental psychology (1); research methods (1); psychology in practice; experiencing psychological research. Optional modules: academic writing in psychology; psychology in the real world; English for academic study; introduction to sport and exercise psychology. Year 2: mind, body and brain (2); personality psychology and abnormal behaviour; social and developmental psychology (2); research methods (2); preparing for independent research; perspectives on consciousness. Year 3: extended research project. Optional modules: autism (an interdisciplinary approach); body movement, gaze and gesture; communication and social interaction; cognition and emotion; critical psychology; health psychology; neuropsychology; organisational psychology; peer'assisted learning and the study of psychology; positive psychology; the biology and psychology of alcohol misuse; psychology of music; advanced abnormal psychology; criminal and forensic psychology; cognitive development for schools; counselling psychology; hands'on cognitive science; practical creativity and thinking skills; psychology of family and child wellbeing; social and cognitive development: family to school; social cognition and emotion; topics in cognitive neuroscience; language and cognitive science; psychological assessment for counselling.
