Course Introduction

This course covers advanced structural analysis and design, structural computing simulation, and also offers units linked with steel, concrete, timber and other structural designs; it provides students with the knowledge to design structures under dynamic and earthquake conditions; the units taught focus on learning advanced methods and techniques while developing analytical skills across a range of structural engineering topics.

Modules include: Advanced structural design; Soil'structure engineering; Finite elements and stress analysis; Masonry and timber engineering; Structural dynamics and earthquake engineering; Advanced computing and structural simulation; Project / dissertation.

Course Additional Entry

The course is ideally suited to engineering graduates or practitioners, mathematicians and physicists. Generally, a Bachelor degree equivalent to UK Second Class Honours Lower or Upper Division in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering or technical discipline is required. Alternatively, substantial equivalent work experience will also be considered on an individual merit basis.
