Course Modules

Year 1: criminology (an introduction); becoming a criminologist; introduction to criminal justice; issues in contemporary policing; making sense of society 2. Year 2: research methods in criminology; criminology theory; contemporary issues in criminology. Optional modules: victims of crime; race and criminal justice; youth crime and justice; criminal justice and domestic violence; placement learning in criminology. Year 3: research project; criminology dissertation; crimes of the powerful ; punishment and prisons; gender, violence and human rights; placement learning in criminology; drug use and policy; transnational policing; children, psychology and criminal justice; crime, culture and the city.
