This LCF course is a contemporary degree course that produces accurate, ethical, practising journalists who can operate effectively in any part of the media, covering any topic and delivering content via any platform, whether print, broadcast or online. You will study a variety of writing skills for journalism, research techniques, Teeline shorthand, visual communication and media law, and graphic media and multimedia disciplines. You will learn how to identify trends and analyse markets. Fashion is considered broadly, from its cultural importance to the social and ethical issues that concern the industry, and through the narrower lens of catwalk and street style. Work placements and high profile speakers from the industry enhance your experience, and you will graduate as a confident and competent professional able to work in the media and make a significant contribution to the industry. You will be based in Lime Grove in Shepherd's Bush, just west of Holland Park and Notting Hill.
Year 1: Introduction to study in higher education; introduction to the essential skills of journalism; introduction to cultural and historical studies; research for journalism; collaborative project. Year 2: Cultural and historical studies; in'depth research and investigation; industry project; research methods for media; innovation for the media. Year 3: Project proposal (fashion journalism); cultural and historical studies dissertation; final major project (fashion journalism).
