Course Introduction

Interior design is concerned with the creation of the spaces in which we live, and the design of the interface between buildings and the people who use them. It creates spaces full of encounter, responding to contemporary culture, anticipating change, entering meaningful dialogue with our past. This course develops a strong appreciation of materials and making in context, giving you the practical skills needed to succeed in the industry.

Course Modules

Core and optional modules include: Year 1: interior design communication skills; interior design principles I; interior design principles II; themes in the history of architecture I; themes in the history of architecture II; language option. Year 2: interior design practice I; interior design practice II; interior design technical studies; contemporary issues in research; history of art, architecture and design options; language option. Year 3: minor design projects; major design project inception; major design project realisation; professional practice; dissertation.
