The programme is for student teachers teaching citizenship across the 11'16 age range. Many students gain their first teaching post in one of the schools in which they have completed a school experience placement. Many of the graduates go on to become mentors for students in school and hence become part of the training team for subsequent generations of citizenship teachers. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) on completion of skills tests.
School experience 1; school experience 2; studies in your specialist subject (2 modules, includes professional studies); school experience totalling 120 days.
Course Additional Entry
Degree (2.2 or above) in a relevant subject. GCSE in mathematics and English grade C or above. It is also recommended that students undertake at least 2 weeks work experience within a secondary citizenship classroom before applying. An interview is required.
