Course Introduction

Our research and teaching draws on a range of disciplines, including economics, psychology, politics and history to develop a deep understanding of business and management and how business shapes and is shaped by society more generally. The first year is designed to provide you with a sound foundation for the study of business. You will be introduced to business and study skills, key business practices (accounting and marketing), analytical approaches (economics and research methods), how managerial work is organised and the relationship between business and society. During the second and third year, you will be able to choose from a wide range of electives, enabling you to specialise in a particular field of business and prepare you for your chosen career path.

Course Modules

Year 1: Fundamentals of management; accounting; research methods; economics; business law; computers in society. Year 2: Organisational behaviour; games and decisions; operations management; company law; marketing; human resource management; accounting; research methods. Year 3: Research project; strategy, management of technology; theories of management; international marketing; management of diversity; business history; organisational behaviour; economics.
