Course Introduction

This programme is accredited by the Royal Statistical Society and provides a broad, thorough and intellectually challenging training in the theory and practice of statistical science. Skills in statistics are valued by a variety of employers and can be applied to various problems in science, medicine, technology, finance and economics.

Course Modules

Year 1: Probability; statistical methods; data analysis; project in statistics; computer programming; mathematics; option (includes computer science; language; or a science topic). Year 2: Topics in statistics (applied probability; inference; linear methods; design of experiments); mathematics; options (from statistics, operational research, computing). Year 3: Project in statistics; options (topics include decision analysis; forecasting; stochastic systems; actuarial science; econometrics; clinical operational research; stochastic methods in finance; medical statistics; computational methods; mathematics).
