Course Introduction

These programmes cover digital and analogue circuit design, programming, microprocessors and communications systems. Emphasis is placed on systems and the design of digital and analogue circuits using advanced software tools. You may study very large'scale integration (VLSI), communication systems and digital signal processing (DSP). A design and build group project is taken in the second year and develops team'working skills. The final individual project allows you to tackle in depth a topic of your choice. The Industrial Experience option enables you to spend a year working in industry.

Course Modules

Year 1: Introduction to electronic systems; programming fundamentals; telecommunications and internet fundamentals; engineering mathematics; digital circuit design; intro Java programming; professional applications electric and magnetic fields. Year 2: Digital systems design; signals and systems theory; electronic devices and applications; design and build project; microprocessor systems; internet protocols; microwave and optical transmission. Year 3: Group project; integrated circuit design; communication systems electronics; operational financial management; digital signal processing; product development; multimedia systems.
