University of East London

Course Introduction

Study a wide range of dance styles including hip'hop and street, contemporary techniques, and world forms such as Capoeira, Kathak, Bollywood and West African styles. Focus on performance and choreography within a range of contexts including theatre, site'specific dance and media. Create dances that focus on contemporary political and aesthetic issues, bringing in your own history to dance in a multicultural, multi'ethnic location. Take a placement module which gives you the opportunity to work with communities, dance companies and dance development agencies across London and will help improve your chances of finding work in the industry on graduating. Learn from teachers and community practitioners with diverse dance experience. Take the opportunity to travel abroad through the UEL Going Global bursary scheme. Make the most of having Stratford Circus and East London Dance on the doorstep to build ties with professional dance companies and organisations. Develop skills that will allow you to be a successful practitioner, writer, choreographer, teacher, policy maker or bodywork instructor.
