Course Introduction

This course prepares students for a career in the development and environment field and can be used as part of an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) research training pathway for PhD study. Students will be provided with training in skills needed to research and assess sustainable development, such as research design, project development, environmental monitoring, geographic information systems (GIS).

Course Modules

Modules include: Sustainability, development and governance; technology and development; sustainability, development and society; participatory research; research training; dissertation (MSc only).

Course Additional Entry

UK upper 2nd Class Honours degree (2.1), or equivalent, in a related field (natural or social sciences). Candidates with considerable professional experience in any agency involved in development and environment issues will also be considered. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.5 in writing and a minimum of 5.5 in all other subscores.
