Course Introduction

This course enables students to meet the challenges of the commercial client by acquiring advanced legal knowledge, as well as practical skills and techniques, in a range of key business areas. Students also acquire significant research and analytical skills.

Course Modules

Modules include: Dissertation; legal research theory and methodology. Option modules: advocacy; alternative dispute resolution; arbitration; civil liberties and human rights; civil procedure; company law; EU competition law; environmental law and regulation; european union environmental law; EU immigration law; evidence and arbitral awards; family mediation; individual employment law; insolvency law; international economic law; international environmental law and sustainability; international law and economic development; international sale of goods and e'commerce; labour law in the global economy; legal aspects of business finance; migration theory, policy and legal practice; refugee law and forced migration; termination of employment; the single European market; UK immigration law.

Course Additional Entry

An Honours degree in law (usually a 2.2 degree or above); or a joint Honours degree (2.2 or above) where the major component is in law e.g. accounting and law or combined studies; or a Graduate Diploma in law (CPE), legal practice course or bar vocational course; a qualification as a solicitor or barrister; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 with 5.5 at least in reading, speaking, listening and writing.
