Course Introduction

This course provides a broad understanding of infectious diseases and is of particular relevance to in'service health professionals such as doctors or laboratory staff; students develop strategies for the control and treatment of infectious diseases, acquiring new knowledge and updating your current expertise.

Course Modules

Modules include: Principles of public health, biostatistics and epidemiology; principles of biology; biology of infectious diseases; control of infectious diseases. Optional modules: bacterial infections; nutrition and infection; parasitology; viral infections; water and sanitation; chemotherapy of microbial diseases; diagnostic methods; immunology of infection.

Course Additional Entry

A 2nd Class Honours degree, from a university or other recognised institution, in a scientific subject (e.g. biology, medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, pharmacy) or in another scientific discipline which has included suitable preliminary training; or previous degree'equivalent academic achievement/experience; High level of English language proficiency is required, equivalent to TOEFL score 580 or IELTS score 6.5.
