Course Introduction

This programme is designed as introductory level zero classes for students looking for classes with 50% English language tuition and 50% academic content. These classes give students the opportunity to develop their English language, become familiar with UK academic culture, and explore some of our academic departments and the degree programmes they offer.

Course Modules

Options include, English language and academic writing: academic reading and writing; academic listening and speaking. Arts, humanities and social sciences: globalisation; images and representation; approaches to textual analysis; introduction to cultural studies; contemporary art worlds; London: arts capital; nations and nationalisms; introduction to literary criticism; identity, movement and change; urban London. Computing: foundations of computer programming; foundations of problem solving with programming; foundations of mathematics for computing. Design: what is design?; making drawings making design; sketchbooks and reflective journal. Music: musicianship I: harmony and composition; musicianship II: performance studies; western art music in context; topics in music studies.
