Students on this course employ traditional and innovative skills while exploring constantly evolving materials and technology; they create diverse solutions that span many disciplines and design applications, including fashion, interiors, automotive design and gallery installation; the course involves frequently employing multidisciplinary and collaborative methods to express the breadth of textiles, through the contexts of body and space; personal research and an individual design philosophy are at the heart of the programme; students are required to apply to 1 specialisms from print, knit, mixed media, and weave.
Students base their study in 1 of 4 specialisms: knit; mixed media; print; weave. The following learning and teaching methods are used: independent study and practice; work reviews; tutorials; lectures; technical workshops; school group seminars; project critiques and presentations; work in progress exhibition; work experience (optional).
Course Additional Entry
Applicants should have: a BA in textiles or a related art and design subject, or equivalent experience; a personal proposal for the intended direction of their MA study; passion, commitment and a strong sense of personal responsibility for one's own learning and development. Portfolio: should illustrate the whole range of the applicants' creative work, including up to 10 digital images of finished work or work in progress.
